How do I request Metta?​

Metta is a Pali word that means “lovingkindness”. There is a tradition of “sending metta” to yourself or other creatures; it is a way of praying for their well-being, using words like these:

• May this being be free from danger

• May this being be free from mental suffering

• May this being be free from physical suffering

• May this being live with ease

You may use the Metta form to create a request for metta.

You can ask a teacher to send metta to a specific person, a group of people, an animal, or to all sentient beings.
